Easy Smoothie Recipe

A recent Freakonomics episode on the dangers of sugar, spark the idea for me to share my fruit smoothie recipe I’ve been making for the past 2 years. If you struggle with drinking sugary drinks, switching to fruit smoothies may help you curve your habit.

Blender

There are a lot of choices when it comes to choosing a blender. I prefer to use one that the blender also acts as the cup. This limits the amount of clean up. The two blenders I’ve used are the Magic Bullet and the Nutri Ninja Pro. The Magic Bullet is cheaper but only lasted 6 months before the motor burned up. I would recommend getting the Ninja because it is more powerful and durable.

Ingredients

Most people think they should use fresh fruit to get a better taste. I would recommend using frozen strawberries, bananas, blueberries, etc. They will last longer and you will not have to add ice. You should be able to get large bags of frozen fruit at most grocery stores. I make every smoothie different but usually, I fill up the cup with frozen fruit, then add half milk and half water to the fill line. Then I add a mixture of honey, yogurt, quaker oats, and granola. Blend and enjoy.

Leave a comment below on what you think and if you have a smoothie recipe to share.
