TextEach Support

TextEach is a native iPhone app by Tim Leland for sending a separate, personalized text to each person in a group. It requires iOS 18 or later. The App Store release is in preparation.

For help, email [email protected]. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, TextEach version, and the steps that led to the issue. Leave private phone numbers and message content out of screenshots and support requests.

Start with a group

In Groups, tap +, choose a name and icon, then tap Next. Add numbers manually, select particular contacts in Apple’s picker, or review a CSV or Excel import. You do not need to grant full address-book access.

From Google Sheets: In Add People, open the guide. Save an Excel copy from Sheets to Files, then tap Choose File in TextEach. Choose a worksheet if needed, match the columns, and review before adding anyone. The spreadsheet is read on your iPhone.

Open a group and choose Message all, or use the message button on a group row. You can also start in Messages → + and choose groups. Duplicate numbers across selected groups appear once.

Write, personalize, and review

Write your message, insert First name or Full name, or choose a template. Use group message fields for details such as a person’s shift time. Check missing values before sending. A missing first name uses “there.”

Use Add photos or Attach files to select up to ten photos and files. Tap a PDF tile to preview it. Automatic sending hands attachments to Messages first, then sends the text separately to the same person. Compatibility depends on Messages and the recipient’s device.

Tap Review to check the count, personalized preview, and recipient list. Tap a person to inspect their exact message and attachments. Swipe someone out or choose Skip … this time to exclude them from this message while keeping their group membership. Restore removed people reverses those exclusions.

Send manually

Choose Review & send manually from Review. TextEach opens Apple’s composer for one recipient at a time. Check the number and text, then send or cancel. Replies stay in your individual conversations in Messages.

Free access includes one group and unlimited manual batches of up to five people. There is no expiration.

Set up automatic sending

Automatic sending requires Pro and Apple’s Shortcuts app. Tap Send on a reviewed message, or open Settings → Sending setup → Enable sending.

  1. Tap Add Shortcut, then confirm Add Shortcut or Replace in Shortcuts. Keep the helper named TextEach.
  2. On iOS 27 or later, allow notifications and keep Automation enabled when asked. If Apple’s setup screen stays open, leave Automation enabled, tap Skip Setup, then tap Play on TextEach.
  3. Wait for TextEach to reopen and finish its check. The setup check sends no texts. If you started setup from a reviewed Send, that send continues after setup succeeds. Maybe later keeps the draft.
  4. Complete your first real send with the iPhone unlocked. Messages permission can first appear during that send. Choose Always Allow when offered, or Allow if that is the available choice. Allow Once may ask again on a later run.

Use the in-app Shortcuts walkthrough for current screenshots. To check permissions later, open the shortcut editor’s Details → Privacy when available. Apple explains this in its Shortcuts privacy guide.

If you used an earlier TxtMany or RosterSend build, add and verify the TextEach helper, review old automations, and remove the retired helper and its notification automation once the current setup works. Your saved groups and messages stay with the app.

Schedule a message

Choose Schedule… from Review. Select Automatically or Remind me, a time, and an optional repeat rule. Rules include daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. All scheduling requires Pro.

On iOS 27 or later, automatic schedules use the TextEach shortcut and its notification automation. Keep TextEach notifications enabled and finish the combined setup check. Earlier iOS versions need a matching Time of Day → Run Immediately → TextEach automation in Shortcuts. Saving a schedule on those versions does not create Apple’s time trigger.

iOS controls execution and timing may vary. Test sending with the phone unlocked before relying on a schedule. Review the schedule again after changing people or message fields. New group members are not silently added to a reviewed schedule. Restored schedules remain paused until you review them on the receiving phone.

Understand sending status

Sent to Messages means TextEach recorded a handoff. It does not prove delivery or that someone read the text. Check Messages for the actual conversation and replies.

Needs review means an attempt may have been interrupted or its outcome is uncertain. Inspect the conversation before approving a retry. TextEach does not automatically retry uncertain texts. Not sent means a text was not started within its sending window and needs review before an explicit retry.

If sending stops, return to Settings → Sending setup and follow Check setup, Finish Setup, or Check Again, as shown. Confirm that people are still in the selected groups and included in the message, and that phone numbers and required fields are current. Remove someone from the relevant groups to stop including them in future group sends.

Move to another iPhone

Open Settings → iCloud and check that the old phone is Up to date before switching. Private sync is on by default when available and uses your Apple Account. Stop sending from the old phone before enabling schedules on the new one; sync does not coordinate simultaneous sends across phones.

You can also export an app backup from Settings. Backups include saved people, messages, and files, and are not password protected. Store them somewhere you trust. Restoring data pauses imported schedules and keeps unfinished attempts available for review. Configure sending setup again and restore purchases separately through Apple.

Turning off sync or removing the app keeps the iCloud copy. Manage cloud deletion in your iPhone’s Apple Account iCloud storage settings. See the privacy policy for details.

Pro and purchases

Pro adds automatic sending, scheduling, more groups, and larger batches. Lifetime, yearly, and monthly plans include the same Pro features. The app displays Apple’s current prices and terms.

Use Restore purchases in Settings if a purchase is missing. Use Manage subscriptions to review or cancel a subscription with Apple. Buying lifetime access does not cancel an existing subscription; cancel it separately if you no longer need it. Backups cannot grant or restore purchase access.
