Top Five (4/2/21)

This is the list of the top five things I found interesting this week. This could range from movies, websites, apps, books, YouTube videos, and more. My goal is to do this every week. Be sure to let me know what you find interesting so I can include it in my list.

The Handyman YouTube

The Handyman on YouTube shares practical advice on how to fix or install things around the house. If you own a home and are interested in doing some DIY projects you will enjoy his videos.

Electric Kettle

If you want to boil water quickly, get yourself an electric kettle. I have been using this electric kettle for several weeks now and it works great. Much faster than using the stove or microwave.

The Last Dance Documentary

The 10 part documentary on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Even if you are not a sports fan, you will enjoy this documentary on Netflix.

Toucan Extension

Recently I discovered a new extension called Toucan that helps you learn a new language while you browse the web. Once you install Toucan, you will go through their onboarding experience that will ask you what language you want to learn and it will teach you how the extension works.

Woot

A neat daily deal site that I often check. The average discount offered on Woot’s pages and categories are anywhere from 30-80% off. Now to be fair, they do sell some refurbished items (clearly labeled), and many are in limited quantities, so they do sell out. They were purchased by Amazon back in 2010.

  1. Hi Tim,
I was introduced to you with your weather extension, I use it every day now, don’t need another weather app now. I like your Top 5 posts, learned about Woot today, interesting, I didn’t see anything I needed today, but I’ll go back there and look at it. The Handyman is what really makes me reply. I am a Youtube big fan, I get more info to put out fires for my family from Youtube than should be legal:) I sympathize with contractors that have work ‘stolen’ out from under them, but our families come first, and my family has a knack for problems so I’m ‘the guy’. They are all ‘phone-types’, not desktop or laptop users to speak of, so Youtube has made me indispensable:) So, keep it up, and thanks. My favorite car repair guy on Youtube is EricTheCarGuy. If you haven’t visited his website, you should take a look.
